Niels Louis-Hansen got a 50% wealth boost and is now Denmark’s richest person

Bloomberg Billionaires Index has crowned a new richest person in Denmark. According to the index, Niels Louis-Hansen’s total net worth now amounts to $6.92 billion, as of August 2, 2018.

Niels Louis-Hansen’s net worth increased by $2.21 billion over the last year – almost 50%.

The increase can be attributed to the billionaire’s stock portfolio. With about 20% of the stock, Louis-Hansen is the biggest owner of Coloplast A/S – a Danish medical equipment company that Niels-Hansen father founded in 1957. Over the last year the company’s stock price has increased by approximately 30%. The increase is largely in response to positive growth development, BT writes. Forbes ranks the company #35 on its index of Top Global Performers, and as the 29th most innovative company.

The medical equipment company Ambu, another one of Louis-Hansen’s portfolio companies, has also performed well over the last year. The stock price has developed from DKK 80.8 per share to DKK 257.8 per share – a 220% increase.

The previously richest person in Denmark is not far behind and may still reclaim the title. Troels Holch Povlsen, founder of the fashion chain Bestseller, has a total net worth of $6.64 billion.
